The entire cast of Krishnanum Radhayum consist of new-comers[3]
Krishnanum Radhayum created lot of controversy for the songs uploaded in YouTube and thus gained a good amount of publicity in social media.[3] The maker of the film Santosh Pandit, is set to enter the record book for performing the most number of jobs for one film. He did the lyrics, music, fights, art, editing, back-ground music, effects, singer, story, dialogues, script, costumes, production designing, title graphics, direction, producer and actor.[4] The film garnered enough publicity when one of its songs titled "Rathri Shubharathri" became a viral hit[3] in You Tube among malayalee viewers gaining over 550,000 views. The music video had Santosh Pandit engaging in a song and dance routine with a teenage girl. The video and the song which was sung by Santhosh himself, got extremely negative reviews evident from the overwhelming number of comments with a majority of them containing profane words. Many of the comments were aimed at the unconventional looks of Santhosh which is perceived as not suitable for a film star.[5] The video proved to be a massive hit in facebook also, where it was dubbed as the New 'Silsila', named after another song, Silsila, which was arguably the first viral hit in Kerala and received similar publicity. Soon enough "Rathri Shubharathri" overtook "Silsila" in terms of publicity.
The film got release in many theatres on 21 October 2011 in Kerala.[6] The film ran houseful on the first day of release.[7][8] Although the film has been universally panned by the mainstream media,[9] it also received some appreciation from certain reviewers,[10] with Kerala9.com observing that "Krishnanum Radhayum is way better than many films released in Malayalam; it has a solid story, and has strong continuity. Viewers will not feel bored. The heroine has acted well."[11] The film received more centres in the following weeks and also some audience, especially youngsters.[12] Amidst criticism, Santosh Pandit and Krishnanum Radhayum received some praise for National Award winner Salim Kumar, complementing the effort and commented "This is indeed a big achievement considering the fact that these days even superstar flicks are getting continuosly bombed at boxoffice."[13]
All songs were composed by Santhosh Pandit himself.[14] Lyrics of seven songs were written by Santhosh Pandit and A. S. Prasad wrote the lyrics of the song Guruvayoorappa.
